Healthspan refers to the years of life lived in good health, with vitality and independence. At NAMI, we view health precisely from this perspective — we get to know your body, identify areas requiring support and create a personalised Health Plan, which you begin to follow during your stay at our Medical Resort and continue after your return, so that it supports your goals and ensures you remain healthy and fit for years to come.
The data show that we are living longer and longer. Over the last 34 years, average life expectancy in Poland has increased by 7.1 years for women and by as much as 8.7 years for men. In 2024, the average life expectancy for women was 82.3 years, and for men – 74.9 years. However, life expectancy is not everything. What also matters is the state of health in which we spend our later years — whether we maintain our physical and mental fitness, energy, hormonal balance and fertility — in other words, our vitality — as well as our ability to play an active role in family, professional and social life. Such a life allows us to pursue what matters to us – to develop our passions, travel, work and maintain our independence, without having to rely on loved ones in our day-to-day lives. This is precisely what the concept of ‘healthspan’ describes.
NAMI is Poland’s first Medical Resort to develop the concept of healthspan, drawing on clinical experience and medical expertise. It combines the diagnosis of ageing processes, lifestyle medicine and reproductive health into a single, coherent model of care – encompassing stays of several days or over a dozen days, as well as support from a Health Coach upon returning to everyday life.
Both concepts relate to longevity, but they look at it from different perspectives. Longevity refers to how long you live (known as lifespan, or the number of years you’ve lived). Healthspan goes a step further and asks what that lifespan looks like—the number of years you’ve lived with full fitness, energy, and health. Your biological age, or the actual state of your body, may differ from the age listed on your ID, and it determines how you feel today and how you’ll function in 10, 15, or 20 years.
For the NAMI team, it is healthspan that serves as the main point of reference in their work with patients — because it is the quality of the years lived that counts, not just the number of them. After all, health and vitality are the foundation of our wellbeing.
You don’t have to wait until a certain age or until you experience your first health problems. It’s worth looking after your healthspan – the years you spend in good form, health and fitness – when you want to get to know your body better and make conscious efforts to look after your health.
A particularly important time is the perimenopausal period, which for many women begins as early as their 40s. During this time, changing hormone levels can affect, amongst other things, energy levels, sleep, mood, metabolism and bone density – often before any clear symptoms of the menopause appear. Taking a proactive approach to your health at this stage allows you to better prepare for the changes ahead and support your body in the years to come.
It’s also a good time to take action if you notice a drop in energy levels, slower recovery, or changes in your well-being or fitness. The reason may also be a significant life stage – planning for parenthood, a change in lifestyle, or simply the need to look after yourself better. You don’t have to wait for a specific problem to arise before taking action.
Your body changes throughout your life, so it’s worth keeping a regular eye on your health and responding to emerging needs. This allows you to understand your own body better, spot changes early enough and make informed decisions about your health.
At NAMI, it is precisely this moment – when you feel ready for change or need a better understanding of your health – that can mark the start of your personalised Health Plan.
A growing body of research shows that the biological foundations of health begin to take shape much earlier than we thought — as early as the pre-conception period, during pregnancy and in early childhood. The concept of the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) emphasises that the conditions and factors affecting the body in the very earliest stages of life can influence health in later years. According to this approach, health should be viewed as a lifelong process, the origins of which date back to the pre-conception period and foetal life, rather than as a one-off result of a single test.
NAMI, as part of the INVICTA Group, draws on over a quarter of a century’s experience in the fields of clinical medicine and reproduction. This knowledge enables us to better understand the interrelationships between hormonal balance, metabolism, fertility and the body’s overall functioning, and to apply this knowledge in a comprehensive approach to health and regeneration.
Energy levels, sleep quality, metabolism, fertility, fitness, hormonal balance and the body’s ability to recover all change over time. Regularly assessing these factors allows you to better understand your own body and make informed choices about how to support your health.
At NAMI, we take a holistic view of the body. We combine test results, consultations with specialists and lifestyle analysis. This ensures that test results are interpreted within a broader context, rather than on the basis of a single parameter.
At NAMI, we make time for you and take a holistic view. Together, we strive to optimise the six key pillars that collectively shape your healthspan and influence your biological age and reproductive potential.
Health is the starting point for everything you still want to create, experience and achieve: relationships, children, passions and the future all require you to be at your best. That’s why at NAMI we look at these aspects from the perspective of the years to come, not just the ‘here and now’. We combine data from various areas to see how your body is functioning today, what’s worth paying particular attention to, and what matters most in your specific situation.
We assess the areas that are important for a long, healthy life — healthspan — and reproductive health:
We analyse the results as a whole, as it is the interrelationships between these areas that help us decide what to focus on in your Health Plan.
We build a comprehensive picture of your body
In addition to the areas mentioned above, we learn about your history and incorporate diagnostics, lifestyle assessment and fitness evaluation to understand your body’s current condition.
We combine the data into a Health Plan
Test results, expert knowledge and the patient’s goals form a personalised Health Plan — a bridge between diagnosis and action. We begin implementing it from the very first day of your stay. It also serves as a guide to help you make informed choices about your health and continue the measures you’ve developed after you leave.
We select treatments and medical programmes
The goal is what matters at the outset – let this guide you when choosing the right programme for you from our range of medical programmes. Each programme has its own specific scope, so you know exactly what to expect during your stay. We finalise the exact course of the programme based on your individual situation, test results and the specialists’ assessments following your arrival.
When choosing a programme, start with the goal you’re coming here to achieve. This sets the direction, whilst the specific tests, consultations, therapies and treatments are then selected on an individual basis.
Healthspan is a process, not a one-off measurement.
Your stay at NAMI is just the beginning of looking after your healthspan. After your stay, you’ll be left with a Health Plan and a Health Coach – someone who will accompany you on your journey and help you translate the recommendations into everyday habits and maintain the benefits of your treatment. At agreed intervals, we review your plan and check how you’re getting on with it and how you’re feeling.
Get to know your body. Look after your wellbeing. Make a plan for the years ahead.
At NAMI, you can enjoy a variety of therapies and recovery treatments every day – from hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryochambers with cardio training and vibration therapy, through to radiofrequency therapy and focused shockwave therapy (FSWT), to physiotherapy and personalised programmes that support recovery, mobility, muscle fitness and the maintenance of physical activity in the long term.
One of the medical procedures used in NAMI’s most intensive residential programmes. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing oxygen under conditions of elevated pressure, which increases the amount of oxygen delivered to the tissues. Depending on the indications, it can support the body’s healing and regeneration processes. In the context of healthspan, it forms part of a comprehensive approach to maintaining the body’s fitness and well-being in the long term. HBOT is incorporated into the Health Plan following an assessment of indications and contraindications, as part of a broader therapeutic strategy supervised by specialists.
Short-term exposure to very low temperatures constitutes a controlled physiological stimulus that can be used as part of post-exercise recovery and to support physical activity. In the context of healthspan, cryostimulation can complement measures aimed at maintaining fitness, activity and good physical condition as we age. At NAMI, cryostimulation is combined with cardio training, which allows the thermal stimulus to be combined with physical activity, tailored to the patient’s capabilities and state of health, and carried out under the supervision of a specialist.
Maintaining muscle strength, balance and good motor control is essential for fitness and independence at every stage of life. Vibration therapy uses controlled mechanical vibrations that can influence muscle activation and functions related to balance and movement. In the context of healthspan, it can complement physical activity and physiotherapy, helping to maintain fitness and the quality of movement, which are essential for everyday functioning.
Staying fit for years to come requires not only regular exercise, but also appropriate management of overexertion and musculoskeletal complaints. Radiofrequency therapy uses radio wave energy to affect tissues and, depending on the method used and the indication, can be employed, amongst other things, to reduce pain, improve tissue function and support a return to activity. As part of the healthspan strategy, it can form part of a personalised physiotherapy programme, particularly in cases of muscle tension, overexertion or restricted mobility.
As we age, maintaining the fitness of the musculoskeletal system and being able to resume normal activities following overexertion or injury becomes particularly important. Focused shockwave therapy (FSWT) uses precisely directed acoustic waves that target specific areas of tissue. Depending on the indication, it can be used, amongst other things, in the treatment of selected chronic pain conditions and soft tissue problems. As part of a healthspan strategy, it can form part of a treatment programme aimed at maintaining mobility, reducing pain and facilitating a return to physical activity.
At NAMI, the recommendations don’t have to wait until you get home. Over the course of a few days, you can put into practice a routine designed to support your health — from eating habits and exercise to sleep, recovery and stress management. These are the first few days of implementing your Health Plan under the guidance of our team. You’ll leave not only with recommendations, but also with the experience of how to incorporate them into your daily life.
This layer forms the foundation upon which further therapeutic measures are based — a lasting change in daily habits reinforces the long-term effects of recovery.
Each of NAMI’s programmes addresses specific areas of healthspan — from metabolism, through sleep and recovery, to fitness, hormonal health and psychological and physical wellbeing. Their aim is to provide comprehensive support for the body: both in day-to-day functioning and in the long-term maintenance of health, fitness and quality of life.
Fertility is part of lifelong health. Whether you’re planning to become a parent, want to work with specialists on your fertility, or have had unsuccessful attempts at conception or IVF treatment, take a look at NAMI’s programmes designed for prospective parents:
Our specialists will analyse your situation and recommend the best option.
Diagnostics, lifestyle advice and specialist support help you gain a better understanding of your body, look after your reproductive health and prepare for parenthood in an informed way. At NAMI, we combine medical expertise with a personalised approach to your needs.
It is worth starting to take steps to support your healthspan at any stage of life. The sooner you focus on prevention, healthy habits and regular health check-ups, the greater your chances of staying fit and well for years to come.
The concept of healthspan is based primarily on prevention and taking a proactive approach to looking after one’s health before problems arise. The programmes are available to both those who are noticing the first signs of a decline in their fitness, and those who wish to gain a better understanding of their bodies, support measures to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and maintain their energy, fitness and quality of life for as long as possible.
Healthy habits are the foundation of a long life. The best results are achieved when these are combined with regular check-ups and personalised medical support, which helps to detect changes that develop without any symptoms.
Chronological age refers to the number of years a person has lived, whilst biological age reflects the body’s actual condition. The rate of ageing is influenced by factors such as lifestyle, sleep, diet, physical activity, stress levels and environmental factors — which is why two people of the same chronological age may differ in terms of fitness and physical capacity.
A stay at NAMI sets in motion a process that continues afterwards. Each participant receives a personalised Health Plan and support from a Health Coach, who helps them implement the recommendations after the programme ends. Regular progress assessments at 14, 30 and 90 days allow us to monitor the results and tailor our approach to the body’s current needs.
Healthspan is influenced by, amongst other things, regular preventive care, sleep quality, diet, physical activity, stress levels, hormonal balance and the early detection of risk factors.
Healthspan promotes the integration of daily habits — sleep, physical activity, mindful eating and stress management — with regular health checks and personalised medical interventions, such as those available through NAMI programmes.
An assessment of the body’s condition is supported by, amongst other things, body composition analysis, metabolic and hormonal tests, an assessment of fitness and muscle strength, and specialist consultations that provide a better understanding of the body’s current needs.
Longevity focuses on the length of life, whilst healthspan focuses on its quality — the number of years lived in good health, with physical fitness and independence.
Healthspan can be assessed on the basis of various parameters relating to health and physical fitness, including metabolic, hormonal and functional factors. Areas such as body composition, physical fitness, sleep quality and perceived stress levels are also taken into account.
NAMI combines diagnostic tests, specialist consultations and lifestyle analysis into a personalised Health Plan. After your stay, your Health Coach monitors your progress in following the recommendations and supports you in establishing healthy habits.
