Hyperbaric therapy – oxygen therapy
in a hyperbaric chamber

Support tissue oxygenation and the body’s natural regenerative processes with NAMI.

Sometimes the body needs more than just time to recover. A wound that heals too slowly, a recurring injury, or fatigue that persists despite rest — these are signs that your tissues may be lacking what most supports their renewal: oxygen.

Oxygen plays a key role in regeneration, wound healing and the body’s repair processes. Hyperbaric therapy increases its availability by administering 100 per cent medical oxygen under conditions of elevated pressure. As a result, more oxygen dissolves in the plasma and can reach the tissues that need it most.

This is a way of consciously supporting the body’s natural regenerative processes. Hyperbaric therapy can form part of a personalised treatment plan, depending on individual needs and health status.

Hyperbaric therapy
might be right for you if

  • you are planning to conceive or are currently trying for a baby and are looking for additional support to improve the quality of your eggs and sperm,
  • you train intensively (either professionally or as an amateur) and want to speed up your body’s recovery after exercise,
  • you have recently suffered an injury or undergone surgery and want to return to your daily activities more quickly,
  • you are struggling with chronic inflammation, a wound or an ulcer that is healing more slowly than it should,
  • you are undergoing treatments to improve your skin’s condition and are looking for an additional method to stimulate regenerative processes.

Fertility support

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases the supply of oxygen to the tissues. Research suggests potential benefits for ovarian response, embryo quality and sperm parameters, supporting a comprehensive approach to fertility treatment.

Improving physical and mental performance

Improved oxygenation of the brain and muscles can boost concentration, well-being and post-exercise recovery, which is why hyperbaric therapy is used by active people who want to get back into shape.

Better immunity

An increased supply of oxygen to the tissues supports the body’s natural defences, helping it to fight off infections. Regular sessions can support your overall fitness and the body’s resistance to illness.

Reduction of inflammation and swelling

Hyperbaric therapy supports the body’s recovery, may reduce swelling and modulate the inflammatory response. Research also points to the potential use of HBOT in supporting the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases.

Anti-ageing effects

The treatment supports the skin’s natural regenerative processes, reduces the effects of free radicals and promotes collagen production. As a result, it can improve the skin’s firmness, elasticity and overall condition.

Faster recovery and wound healing

Improved microcirculation and tissue oxygenation support the healing process following injuries and surgical procedures. The therapy may also aid the healing of slow-healing wounds and ulcers.

Is one session in a hyperbaric chamber enough?

After just one session, many of our patients notice an improvement in the quality of their sleep and feel better the following day. This is a good way to see how your body responds to the therapy.

However, the full benefits of hyperbaric therapy are realised through a series of sessions – the number depends on your goals and state of health, which is why we always determine this on an individual basis during a consultation with a hyperbaric doctor. In regenerative and supportive applications (e.g. fitness, immunity, anti-ageing), the first effects are often noticeable after just a few sessions. In targeted therapies – such as promoting wound healing or treating inflammation – a course of around 10 sessions is usually recommended, depending on the specific indications.

Therefore, if you are looking for a genuine, noticeable change rather than just a one-off effect, consider a package of sessions rather than a single treatment.

There are scientific studies which show that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can improve sperm parameters in men and the quality of eggs and the endometrium in women. Studies have also shown that hyperbaric therapy increased the endometrium’s sensitivity to oestrogen and improved its receptivity. Improved blood flow to the reproductive organs also offers the potential for a higher libido.

What is the assessment process for oxygen therapy in a hyperbaric chamber?

Before the first session, every patient undergoes a medical assessment – this allows us to determine whether the therapy is suitable and safe for you.

The assessment consists of 3 simple steps:

  • Online pre-assessment – 15 mins, 50 zł
During a brief consultation, a NAMI doctor will ask about your health and check whether any additional tests are required. If so, they will issue a referral for them.
  • Tests – you will need:
A chest X-ray – the result is valid for 12 months,
a full blood count – the result is valid for 14 days. You can have the test carried out on site in Sopot, and the result is usually available the following day.
  • Consultation with a hyperbaric doctor – 150 zł
The doctor analyses the test results, conducts a medical history interview and reviews your medical records. On this basis, they check for any contraindications to the therapy and draw up a treatment plan tailored to your specific goal.

Hyperbaric therapy at NAMI – oxygen therapy in a modern multi-person chamber with full medical accreditation

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is an innovative method of recovery and treatment that involves breathing 100% medical oxygen under conditions of elevated pressure. Inside a hyperbaric chamber, oxygen penetrates the blood to a much greater extent than under normal conditions, reaching even poorly perfused tissues. This stimulates regenerative processes, reduces inflammation and supports the treatment of a wide range of conditions – from wounds and injuries to neurological problems and fertility issues.

  • Yes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is safe, provided it is carried out under the supervision of specialists and in accordance with established protocols. The hyperbaric chamber used at NAMI meets the highest safety standards, and every patient undergoes a consultation before their first session. If necessary, our medical staff are present inside the chamber throughout the entire treatment, ensuring the comfort and safety of the patients.

  • If you feel unwell, please inform the staff immediately – there is always a qualified nurse in our multi-person chamber who can respond quickly and look after your health. Most often, however, any discomfort is caused by the equalisation of pressure in your ears, just like on a plane, and can be easily relieved using simple techniques which the medical staff will demonstrate.

  • The number of sessions depends on individual needs and the aims of the therapy. The first positive effects, such as an improvement in well-being and better recovery, may be noticeable after just a few sessions. For therapeutic treatments, such as promoting wound healing or treating inflammation, a course of around 10 sessions is often recommended, depending on medical indications.

  • No, hyperbaric therapy is completely painless. The only sensation you might experience at the start of a session is a slight feeling of ‘ear pressure’ caused by the change in pressure – similar to that felt during an aeroplane take-off. This can be easily relieved using the techniques demonstrated by the medical staff.

  • Yes, although hyperbaric therapy is safe, there are certain contraindications. These include, amongst others:

    • certain lung conditions (e.g. pneumothorax, advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease),
    • certain ear and sinus conditions that may hinder pressure equalisation,
    • pregnancy (as a precaution),
    • previous ear or eye surgery, which requires consultation with a doctor,
    • claustrophobia or a severe fear of hyperbaric therapy.

Before starting therapy, every patient undergoes a pre-treatment assessment to rule out any potential contraindications.

  • In our spacious, multi-person chamber, you can sit comfortably and make gentle movements, such as changing position. There is no need to remain completely still, as is the case with some medical procedures.

  • Yes, the difference is that in the chamber you breathe oxygen at a concentration of 100 per cent (instead of around 21 per cent, as in atmospheric air) and under increased pressure. This means that the oxygen is absorbed more effectively and reaches your tissues, which speeds up recovery and improves how your body functions. The breathing itself is no different from what you’re used to – it’s natural and comfortable.

  • Yes, hyperbaric therapy is an excellent complement to other forms of treatment and recovery. It can be used to support physiotherapy, post-injury rehabilitation and anti-ageing therapies, as well as in combination with infertility treatment. It is worth consulting a specialist to tailor the therapy to your needs and achieve the best results.

  • During the session, you can relax – read a book, watch a film on the screen built into the chamber, or simply rest. For safety reasons, the use of mobile phones is prohibited, but other forms of entertainment are available in the chamber. Many people see this time as a moment to themselves, allowing them to rejuvenate both body and mind.
