Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (Li-ESWT) is a medical technology used for a variety of therapeutic purposes, including the stimulation of angiogenesis – the formation of new blood vessels. Li-ESWT is a non-invasive, painless treatment and its effectiveness has been clinically validated in numerous applications.
How it works
Li-ESWT promotes angiogenesis and tissue regeneration in the penis by creating micro-injuries that stimulate the body to repair and form new blood vessels. This results in improved blood flow to the penis, leading to better erectile function.
Clinical studies have shown that Li-ESWT is a successful treatment for men with erectile dysfunction, particularly those who have not responded well to medications such as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (e.g. sildenafil). Many patients experience a significant improvement in erectile function after Li-ESWT therapy.
The procedure is an outpatient procedure and typically takes about 15-20 minutes. No anaesthesia is required and the treatment is virtually painless.
How it works
Li-ESWT stimulates angiogenesis, which improves blood flow to the pelvic area. This improved circulation helps to regenerate tissue, reduce inflammation and relieve pain. Li-ESWT can also increase blood flow to the genital area, which is essential for treating certain female sexual dysfunctions such as hypoactive sexual desire disorder (low or no sexual desire) and dyspareunia (pain during intercourse). Improved circulation can increase sensitivity, enhance sexual response, increase desire and reduce discomfort during intercourse.
Research has shown that Li-ESWT is an effective treatment for chronic pelvic pain in women. Patients often report a reduction in pain and improved quality of life after just a few sessions.
The procedure typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis. It is painless and does not require anaesthesia.
